Who we are

Introduction to our Church

We are a small family of Christ's disciples in the beautiful region of Hardys Bay on the Bouddi Peninsula in NSW. The emphasis in our name is on "community" – we are the only local church in our community, we are here for our community, and we seek to serve our local community in different ways.

Our members are committed to becoming more like Christ, and continue his mission to reconcile all things to God through Christ (Col 1:15-20). Our theological heritage is reformed, protestant and evangelical, but we welcome people of every tradition, or no tradition. Our Sunday services are like meetings of our family – welcoming, friendly, participatory and focused on prayer, praise and learning from God's Word.

Our mission statement

Encourage each other to speak out and live out God's Word, and to Share the hope we have in Jesus with others in our community.

Meet Dr. Stephen Hinks

Stephen Hinks and his wife Anne have been married for over 40 years. They live in Killcare Heights, having moved here in 2010 to enjoy and engage in the beautiful bush, beach and bay that Bouddi offers. They have three adult children, all married and serving in their own local churches, and eight grandchildren.

Stephen's varied working life has been as a secondary teacher, pastor in a large church, executive director of a not-for-profit organisation, and principal of a tertiary training college for pastors. His main academic qualifications are from UNSW, Moore Theological College, and London University; his doctorate is from Fuller Theological Seminary in USA. His ministry experience is as a leader, teacher, pastor, mentor & consultant, in churches, independent schools and other not-for-profit organisations.

Stephen is involved in our local community by way of the Rural Fire Service, he was the founding president of Killy Cares Inc. and he is a sports chaplain with Killcare Surf Life Saving Club. He is also a Disaster Recovery Chaplain in NSW. He serves HBCC as leader, teacher and pastor.

COMMON TO OUR BELONGING, BELIEVING AND BEHAVING ARE:

  • a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as God’s Son, without whose life on earth, death and resurrection we would not receive God’s grace and forgiveness

  • a passion to live and honour Christ as his disciples, longing to become more like him and living out his purposes for the world

  • a desire to serve others, especially the people of our own neighbourhood

  • a commitment to bless and care for one another and all the members of our local community.

We thank God for his grace to us and seek to serve Him in ways that bless others and draw attention to how amazing He is.
